Apple 'Ultra' Era Dawns: Foldable iPhone Ultra & Touchscreen MacBook Ultra Reportedly Laun
Apple appears poised to significantly expand its 'Ultra' product line this year, with strong reports suggesting the imminent arrival of both an 'iPhone Ultra' and a 'MacBook Ultra'. This branding shift signifies a new tier of premium, high-tech devices from the Cupertino giant. Rumors, bolstered by a recent Macworld report from Filipe Espósito, indicate that Apple's long-awaited foldable iPhone will not be called 'iPhone Fold' but rather 'iPhone Ultra'.
This aligns with earlier reports from Mark Gurman and Weibo leakers, solidifying the 'Ultra' moniker for the company's most advanced smartphone to date. Adding to the excitement, Trendforce hints that advanced 'hi-tech glue' could be the secret to achieving an 'invisible crease' on the foldable iPhone Ultra's display, a critical feature for its book-style fold. The iPhone Ultra is anticipated to make its debut in September, likely alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Key features are expected to include a flexible, crease-free display with a roughly 5.5-inch outer screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen. Powering this innovative device will be the A20 Pro chip and a C2 cellular modem, complemented by custom iOS 27 features designed to optimize side-by-side app usage. Photography will be handled by Main and Ultra Wide rear cameras, plus a front camera on each display, with Touch ID conveniently integrated into the power button.
Beyond the iPhone, the 'Ultra' branding is also set to arrive on the Mac. The 'MacBook Ultra' is envisioned as a new high-end model, initially speculated to be the M6 MacBook Pro. This premium laptop is expected to showcase a revamped industrial design, a highly anticipated touchscreen, and a vibrant OLED display.

It will also reportedly feature a Dynamic Island in place of the traditional notch and potentially include a C2 cellular modem for enhanced connectivity. An M5 Max chip is also hinted at, promising 'astounding' Geekbench scores. While the iPhone Ultra is firmly targeted for a September launch, the MacBook Ultra's release timeline is a bit more fluid.
Macworld's report reiterates a launch this year, but acknowledges the possibility of it slipping into early 2027. This expansion of the 'Ultra' brand suggests Apple is creating a distinct category for its most cutting-edge, feature-rich, and premium offerings across its core product lines, pushing the boundaries of design and technology.
